Nigerian social activist and comedian Debo Adebayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, has voiced strong criticism toward Nigerian politicians, claiming they consistently show a lack of respect for the citizens they serve.

Mr Macaroni’s statement follows a recent incident where Alexander Mascot Ikwechegh, a member of the House of Representatives from Abia State, allegedly threatened to make an Uber driver "disappear" and lock him up over a minor disagreement.

Mr Macaroni took to X (formerly Twitter), where he highlighted the deeply rooted culture of impunity among Nigerian politicians, arguing that their lack of accountability drives their perceived arrogance.

He referenced a previous incident involving FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, who reportedly asked, “Are you stupid?” while addressing citizens, questioning why they dared to approach him. “You are a civil servant,” Macaroni emphasized, underscoring that Nigerian politicians are duty-bound to respect those they serve, as their salaries are funded by taxpayers.

In a powerful message to fellow Nigerians, Mr Macaroni reminded citizens to assert their power and expect respect from their elected officials, adding, "Arrogance has no place in public office." His post quickly gained traction online, fueling a conversation around the accountability of public officials and reinforcing his message that true public service requires humility and respect.

Mr Macaroni’s remarks come at a time when more Nigerians are calling for increased accountability, highlighting the public’s growing expectation for dignity and transparency in leadership.
