Nigerian superstar Asake continues to break boundaries, now making history as part of the NBA 2K25 soundtrack, joining other talented acts from around the globe. The popular basketball video game, NBA 2K25, developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K Sports, is set to be one of the biggest sports gaming experiences of 2024.
Asake's smash hit "Wave" featuring British rapper Central Cee is included on the official soundtrack, alongside names like Lil Pete, Key Glock, and other global music stars. The game, released on September 6, 2024, for consoles such as PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, is expected to be another massive hit following its predecessor, NBA 2K24, which sold over 9 million units.
This achievement puts Asake in the company of other Nigerian stars like Seun Kuti, Adekunle Gold, and Burna Boy, who have previously been featured on NBA 2K soundtracks. It also follows the recent announcement of fellow Nigerian artists Rema, Omah Lay, Shallipopi, and Obongjayar being included in the EA Sports FIFA/FC 25 video game soundtrack.
Asake’s inclusion highlights the global influence of Afrobeats and its growing impact on various entertainment platforms worldwide.
