Nigerian Afrobeats sensations Rema, Omah Lay, and Shallipopi are set to feature on the highly anticipated EA FC25 (formerly FIFA) football game soundtrack, joining a lineup of global artists for the game's release on September 27th, 2024. This marks another major milestone for Afrobeats, with Nigerian artists continuing to make waves on the global stage.
In addition to Rema and Shallipopi's hit track "Benin Boys," Omah Lay's new song "Moving" has also been confirmed for the soundtrack. This inclusion places the trio among 114 other global tracks, celebrating the expanding influence of Nigerian music in pop culture.
Following in the footsteps of past Nigerian stars like Olamide, Davido, Bad Boy Timz, Pheelz, and BNXN, Rema, Omah Lay, and Shallipopi carry the torch for Afrobeats in this year's EA Sports lineup. Fans have taken to social media to express excitement, eager to experience their favorite Nigerian artists while playing one of the world’s most iconic football games.
Beyond the Nigerian artists, the soundtrack boasts an eclectic mix of global talents, including South African star Moonchild Sanelly, Afro-Colombian group Kombilesa Mi, and international heavyweights like Billie Eilish, Coldplay, Charli XCX, and Disclosure. The inclusion of Afrobeats in the EA FC25 soundtrack underscores the genre’s growing global appeal and cultural dominance.
With the game’s massive worldwide audience, this feature could open new doors for Nigerian artists, further propelling Afrobeats into mainstream spaces and marking a perfect fusion of football and music.
