Nigerian singer Korede Bello has opened up about his decision to leave Don Jazzy's Mavins Records after seven years with the label.
The “Godwin” crooner, who signed with Mavins in 2014 and parted ways in 2021, shared his reasons during an interview with Hip TV hosted by reality star KimOprah.
Bello explained that his departure was motivated by a need for personal growth and a desire to reconnect with his purpose beyond the music industry’s demands.
He said, "I was at a season in my life where I needed to metamorphose, to explore my inner worth, to do introspection, understand myself, understand meaning more, and reconnect to my why."
The singer expressed that he felt like a product solely aimed at generating hits and income, which made him lose sight of what truly mattered to him. “You lose sight of what matters when you chase after the next hit... So a lot of artists are addicted to that circle,” Bello added, highlighting the struggles many artists face in the industry.
His candid reflection has sparked discussions about the pressures artists face in the music business and the importance of maintaining personal fulfillment.
