A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has sentenced Courage Ipaka, who impersonated Nigerian singer Flavour, to two years imprisonment for defrauding a U.S.-based woman, Yvelte M. Thompson, of $53,000.
The case, led by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) investigator Azibagiri Dan Ekpar, revealed that Ipaka posed as Flavour and promised to organize shows in the U.S., receiving payment through Bitcoin wallets.
Upon investigation, it was discovered that Ipaka, who resides in Benin City, was behind the fraudulent activities. He admitted to the crime and had converted the funds into Naira through his Access Bank account.
