Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has sparked debate after praising Nigeria’s economy under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, crediting his administration with unprecedented trade achievements.
Taking to her Instagram story, Badmus highlighted the significant shift in the country’s import-export balance, calling it a sign of economic expansion.
“Our imports are reducing, and our exports are increasing. That is a sign that our economy is expanding,” she wrote. She added that Nigeria has recorded an impressive trade surplus of over N14 trillion in just eight months, something she claims has “never happened in Nigeria.”

Despite her optimism, Badmus’ comments come at a time when millions of Nigerians are protesting the economic hardships plaguing the nation, with rising inflation and unemployment casting a shadow over these positive trade figures.
As Nigerians continue to grapple with these challenges, Badmus’ praise of Tinubu’s government has ignited conversations, with some applauding her for recognizing the administration’s efforts, while others question the reality of these gains amidst widespread struggles.
