In a recent interview with Mystery Fashionist in New York, the "Stand Strong" singer revealed how his faith has been his anchor through the darkest moments of his life.
“I have lost a lot of people,” Davido said, recalling the heartbreaking deaths of his mother, Mrs. Victoria Imade Adeleke, when he was just 11, and the devastating loss of his 3-year-old son, Ifeanyi Adeleke. The singer also mourned close associates such as Tagbo, DJ Olu, Obama DMW, and personal photographer Fortune—all of whom passed in quick succession.
Despite the tragedies, Davido spoke about his resilience, explaining how he’s found the strength to move forward. “I’m just being strong. I did a song called ‘Stand Strong.’ I feel like strength, and obviously, my faith has kept me going.”
The Afrobeats star, known for his infectious energy, also addressed misconceptions people have about him. “I think sometimes, people think I am not approachable,” he shared, while humorously noting the irony that others believe he’s too accessible. “I grew up in a big family, I’m used to having people around me. My talent and success is God-given,” he added.
Davido’s openness about his struggles reminds fans of the human side behind the star, revealing that while fame shines brightly, personal battles are fought quietly. With faith and determination, Davido continues to stand strong, inspiring many with his perseverance.
