Nigerian music icon Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy, has expressed that he and some of his peers in the music industry might have retired by now, had they followed the old norms of the entertainment world.
The 45-year-old singer, who rose to fame as part of the P-Square duo alongside his twin brother Peter Okoye (Mr P), shared his thoughts during an appearance on the Adesope Live Show.

Rudeboy reflected on the difficulties of balancing a music career with family life, stating, "In the old ways of doing music, by now people like us suppose don retire." He highlighted the inevitable challenges and criticisms that come with being a public figure, emphasizing that every top artist faces their share of scandals and setbacks.
"There’s always a time for everything in life. Things will always happen. If you are a celebrity and you think people will always see you like an angel, trust me you’re not going anywhere. There are times that something would be against you. It’s always like that," he explained.
Rudeboy's comments come amid ongoing personal and professional challenges, including the recent confirmation that P-Square had split up again in August 2024.
This latest breakup follows accusations from his twin brother Peter, who alleged that Rudeboy and their elder brother, Jude Okoye, had diverted the group's funds.
Despite these issues, Rudeboy remains a significant figure in the Nigerian music scene, though his remarks suggest he is contemplating the possibility of stepping back from the spotlight.
