Popular Nigerian singer Paul Okoye, known as Rudeboy, has revealed in a recent interview with City FM, Lagos, that his twin brother Peter Okoye, aka Mr P, was behind his recent arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Rudeboy claimed that Mr P filed a petition with the EFCC, accusing him of fraudulent dealings. Despite undergoing a thorough investigation and being cleared of all allegations, Rudeboy expressed his dismay over the false accusations and the lack of an apology from his brother.
"This year, I was invited by the EFCC after they received a petition against me from my twin brother. I never thought it [our beef] would get to this extent. I thought it was just music,” Rudeboy shared.
He described the harrowing experience at the EFCC office, where he was questioned extensively about his financial transactions. He recounted his fear, stating, “First of all, what entered my mind was, what if I was into fraud? That’s how my brother would have finished me?”
Rudeboy elaborated on the investigation process, highlighting that he had to provide a lawyer and sureties to assist in clearing his name. "One month ago, they called me, my twin brother and our elder brother [Jude Okoye], and said, ‘First of all, we have to say that after all investigations, Paul is innocent. Paul is cleared. Everything you accused him of, we’ve done our investigation and he’s innocent.’”
Despite his innocence being proven, Rudeboy lamented that his twin brother did not apologize for the false accusations.
This revelation has added a new dimension to the ongoing rift between the famous twin brothers, known for their successful music career as the duo P-Square, further showcasing the depth of their personal and professional conflicts.
