On Friday, Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh was summoned by the Nigeria Police Force to its headquarters in Abuja. The summon is part of an ongoing investigation into serious allegations, including criminal defamation, cyberbullying, and forgery.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, revealed that the invitation was made under the directive of the Inspector-General of Police's Monitoring Unit. According to a letter dated August 5, 2024, and signed by DCP A.A. Elleman, Head of the IGP Monitoring Unit, Dikeh's name has been prominently mentioned in the investigation.
The letter stated: “This office is investigating a case of criminal defamation, forgery, falsehood, cyberbullying, and criminal conversion reported to the Inspector-General of Police, in which your name and others feature prominently." The actress was requested to attend an interview on August 7, 2024, to clarify her involvement in these allegations.

Adejobi confirmed that Dikeh was released after her interview, emphasizing that she was only invited to respond to a petition against her. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
