The Nigeria Oscars Selection Committee (NOSC) has expanded its membership by adding five new members in preparation for the 97th edition of the annual Academy Awards, scheduled for March 2nd, 2025.
In a statement released by NOSC leader Stephanie Linus, the newly appointed members include:
- Ali Nuhu, Managing Director of the Nigerian Film Corporation
- Blessing Egbe, film producer
- Victor Akande, popular journalist and film critic
- Kene Okwuosa, Group Chief Executive Officer of Filmhouse Cinemas
- Ijeoma Agu, actress
These new members join the returning committee members:
- Stephanie Linus (Leader)
- Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde
- Victor Okhai
- Andy Amenechi
- Yibo Koko
- Izu Ojukwu
- Dimeji Ajibola
- Emem Isong
- Jude Idada
- Meg Otanwa
- John Njamah
The committee emphasized that the diverse backgrounds of the new members would enhance the selection process of the best film from Nigeria for the Oscars.
The inclusion of these industry veterans is expected to bring a wealth of experience and insight, contributing to the committee’s mission of showcasing the finest in Nigerian cinema on the global stage.
