In a heartbreaking revelation, legendary singer Mariah Carey has confirmed the passing of both her mother, Patricia, and her sister, Alison, who tragically died on the same day last weekend.
The Grammy-winning artist shared the devastating news in a statement on Monday, though she chose not to disclose the causes of death or the exact date.
"My heart is broken that I have lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day. I was blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed," Carey expressed in her statement.
Patricia Carey, a renowned opera singer, played a significant role in shaping Mariah's music career. Despite their close bond, Mariah had a more strained relationship with her sister, Alison, as detailed in her memoir, where she described the challenges and distance that marked their connection.
