Nigerian artist Tems made a significant mark at the 2024 BET Awards, winning the 'Best Gospel/Inspirational Song' category for her track "Me & U."

The awards ceremony, held in Los Angeles, saw Tems standing out among nominees like Halle Bailey and Kirk Franklin, who were in the running with their songs "Angel" and "All Things," respectively.

The event celebrated a range of talents across the music industry. Usher was honored with the 'Lifetime Achievement Award,' recognizing his monumental contributions and lasting influence in the industry.

Kendrick Lamar took home the award for 'Best Male Hip Hop Artist,' while Victoria Monét won 'Video of the Year' for her hit "On My Mama." SHA secured the award for 'Best Female R&B/Pop Artist,' and Tyla was named 'Best New Artist.'

Despite strong nominations, other Nigerian artists like Burna Boy, Asake, Ayra Starr, and Seyi Vibez did not secure wins in their respective categories. Burna Boy, nominated for 'Best Male Hip Hop Artist' and 'Best Male R&B/Pop Artist,' expressed his support for Tems by congratulating her on social media.

Tems' victory highlights her versatility and the broad appeal of her music, transcending traditional genre boundaries and earning recognition on a global stage. Her win at the BET Awards underscores the growing influence of Nigerian artists in the international music scene.
