Nigerian doctor and hyper-realism artist, Fola David, has set a new Guinness World Record (GWR) for the largest drawing by an individual. The Lagos-based visual artist, aiming to depict Nigeria’s diverse cultures, embarked on this six-day artistic endeavor at Onikan Stadium, beginning on July 16.

In a social media post on Friday night, David announced his achievement: “Congratulations to us all. On Day 4 at 9 pm, we broke the current record of 629.98 square meters, but we are not done! As the goal is to get over 1000 square meters of canvas covered in drawings; we are currently at 689 square meters. Let’s Go!”

Nollywood Times recalls that David’s ambitious project has garnered attention and support from various notable figures, including the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi; former GWR holder, Hilda Baci; and Farooq Oreagba, a prominent businessman known for his presence at the 2024 Ojude Oba Festival.

Additionally, the management of the College of Medicine University of Lagos (CMUL), where David is an alumnus, visited to show their support.

As David continues his record-breaking attempt, he exemplifies the spirit of creativity and cultural pride, inspiring many with his dedication and artistic vision.
