Ace music executive and CEO of Mavin Records, Don Jazzy, has disclosed a strategic decision to avoid releasing songs or projects on the same day as Nigerian music heavyweights Wizkid and Asake.
In a podcast interview with Fisayo Fosudo, Don Jazzy explained that dropping music simultaneously with these top artists could be detrimental.

Wizkid and Asake are among Nigeria's most successful artists, dominating the streaming era with their massive fanbases and hit tracks. To ensure Mavin Records' artists get the attention they deserve, Don Jazzy has adopted a flexible release schedule.
“We [Mavin] are moving from the traditional Friday release date to Wednesdays and Thursdays because there are no more Fridays [without another artist dropping a song],” Don Jazzy shared. “If my artiste is to drop a song or project on a Friday and Wizkid or Asake is also releasing that day, I will move our release date because you don’t want to just die a natural death.”

This strategic move underscores the competitive nature of the Nigerian music industry, where timing can significantly impact a song's success.
Mavin Records boasts an impressive lineup of artists, including Rema, Ayra Starr, Crayon, Magixx, Boy Spyce, Johnny Drille, and Lifesize Teddy. With this adaptive strategy, Don Jazzy is ensuring that each artist has the best possible chance to shine without being overshadowed by the industry's biggest names.
