Afrobeats star Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, recently sparked controversy by claiming that fellow musician Davido's marriage isn't a good example to follow. This came in response to a fan's suggestion that Burna Boy should emulate Davido and settle down.

The debate unfolded on social media, following reports about Davido's ongoing child custody battle with his first baby mama, Sophia Momodu. The DMW boss had publicly criticized Sophia for referencing the tragic death of his son, Ifeanyi, in her counter suit. Ifeanyi, Davido's son, drowned in a swimming pool accident at the singer's Lagos mansion.

Adding fuel to the fire, singer Dammy Krane mocked Davido, saying he now understands the pain Tagbo’s mother felt when her son, whom Krane accused Davido of contributing to his death, passed away. Burna Boy intervened, urging Dammy Krane to delete his posts about Davido, but Krane ignored him. Burna Boy then tweeted, “‘Odogwu too wise’ who no hear go feel.”

A user on X, formerly Twitter, with the handle @BadLieutenant suggested that Burna Boy should plan for his future by getting married and starting a family like Davido, writing, "Burna Boy, you should start planning for your future by getting married and starting a family. OBO has already set an example. You’re over 33 now, and you need to understand that you’re not getting any younger.”

Burna Boy's response was blunt: “Baba make I just dey as I dey abeg, u nor see wetin him dey face like dis?” His remark hinted at Davido's current struggles, suggesting they are not desirable.

Another user, @RealDreylo, criticized Burna Boy's response, to which he replied, “Ok. But between me and you, Shey na betta example the guy use?” This indicated Burna Boy's disapproval of Davido's situation as a model for others.

When asked by user @SunOfOba if Adekunle Gold is a better example, Burna Boy responded affirmatively, “Ehen! Na wetin we dey pray for be that bros,” praising Adekunle Gold's approach to family life.
