Kanayo O. Kanayo, veteran Nollywood actor, during a recent appearance on 'The Honest Bunch' podcast, expressed his views on monogamy.
The actor stated that he does not believe in monogamy as he feels it goes against African culture.
Kanayo prefers polygamy and believes that monogamy is a foreign concept that has been imposed on African societies.
“I don’t believe in one wife. It is not our culture. It is not our tradition. It is not who we are. These are imported things,” he says.
Kanayo stated that he was unaware of divorce until he moved to Lagos from the South East, noting that the Igbo culture values staying in marriage until death.
“I never knew anything about divorce until we came to Lagos. The Igbo man prefers to die in the marriage than divorcing,” he disclosed.
