Popular singer Joseph Akinfenwaa Donus, better known as Joeboy, has voiced his frustration with the federal government for prioritizing the change of Nigeria's National Anthem over addressing the numerous pressing issues facing the country.

This reaction comes in the wake of President Bola Tinubu signing the National Anthem Bill 2024 into law on Wednesday, which reinstates the old anthem, “Nigeria, We Hail Thee.”

Joeboy, known for his hits and social commentary through music, took to his X handle to express his bewilderment at the government's decision. He questioned the rationale behind focusing on the national anthem when there are far more critical problems that require immediate attention.

"Of all the problems Nigerians have to deal with, changing the national anthem is priority? Okay naw," Joeboy wrote, encapsulating the sentiments of many Nigerians who are grappling with issues such as economic instability, security concerns, and infrastructural deficiencies.

The singer’s remarks highlight a growing frustration among the populace about the government's priorities and its handling of national affairs. Many citizens and public figures alike are calling for more decisive action on pressing issues rather than symbolic changes that have little impact on the day-to-day lives of Nigerians.

As the debate over the national anthem change continues, Joeboy’s comments have sparked discussions on social media, with many echoing his sentiments and urging the government to focus on more urgent national challenges.
