Tiwa Savage's film 'Water & Garri' To Premiere On Prime Video On May 10 [Video]

Tiwa Savage has unveiled the trailer for her highly anticipated film "Water & Garri," set to premiere on Prime Video on May 10, 2024.

The movie centers around Aisha, portrayed by Savage herself, an ambitious fashion designer who returns to her hometown after years abroad in the United States.

A family tragedy prompts her homecoming, but she is met with a starkly different reality. The once-familiar place is now engulfed in escalating violence and unrest.

Directed by Meji Alabi and produced by Unbound Studio and JM Films, the film was shot in Cape Coast and Ghana and features a talented cast including Mike Afolarin, Andrew Bunting, and Jemima Osunde.

In addition to her lead role, Savage also serves as executive producer, composer, and performer of the original soundtrack.

The film shares its title with Savage's 2021 EP, "Water & Garri," which featured collaborations with artists like Nas, Rich King, Amaarae, Brandy, and Tay Iwar.

Savage describes "Water & Garri" as a female-driven narrative about love and empowerment, a perspective she believes is underrepresented in Nollywood. She expressed her excitement about contributing to the diversity of storytelling in African cinema, particularly from a female perspective.
