During his performance of 'Calm Down' on the festival's second day at Dix Park in Raleigh, North Carolina, Rema halted his performance to address the sound issues, expressing his dissatisfaction before ultimately leaving the stage.

He emphasized the importance of equal sound quality for African artists compared to their Western counterparts on international stages, stating, "Hold on, there are too many sound issues. It’s messing up my whole performance. I’m seriously not feeling this sh*t. I’m representing Africa, this is too messed up. If the sound cannot be perfect for every artist that gets on this stage… Africa is in the house and you are messing sh*t up?”

The Dreamville Festival, created by American hip-hop star J. Cole, witnessed this unexpected moment, highlighting the challenges faced by African artists in achieving parity in sound quality on global platforms.
