Gospel artist Nathaniel Bassey has taken legal action against false allegations suggesting he is the father of Mercy Chinwo Blessed's child. Following Chinwo and her husband's social media posts on March 29, 2024, speculating about their son's resemblance to Bassey, four individuals propagated rumors that he fathered the child.

In response, Bassey's legal team, comprising Peter Abraham, Uche Matthew, Gbenga Agunloye, and Anthony Abia, has formally petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP). Their petition, submitted on the same day as the social media posts, highlights the distress caused by the defamatory statements made by Okoronkwo Ejike, Kingsley Ibeh, Terrence Ekot, and DJ Spoiltkid.

The lawyers assert that these individuals maliciously intended to harm Bassey's reputation by falsely labeling him as the father of Chinwo's child. They emphasize the severe repercussions such baseless accusations can have on an individual's image and character.

Furthermore, the legal team underscores the importance of maintaining one's reputation, particularly on an international scale. They urge the IGP to thoroughly investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators to justice as a deterrent to others who may engage in similar misconduct.

Bassey's legal representatives are committed to ensuring that justice is served and that his reputation remains untarnished amidst these unfounded allegations.
