Tobi Bakre Takes on a Thrilling New Role in FilmOne Studios' 'Farmer's Bride' [Video]

Tobi Bakre is set to return to the big screen in FilmOne Studio's highly anticipated second original production, "Farmer's Bride," directed by Adebayo Tijani and Jack'enneth Opukeme.

Known for his dynamic performances in action-packed blockbusters like 'Brotherhood,' 'Gangs of Lagos,' and the popular series 'Slum King,' Bakre has garnered acclaim, including the Actor of the Year Award at the 9th African Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) for his role in 'Brotherhood.'

In "Farmer's Bride," Bakre ventures into new territory, stepping into the role of Femi, the nephew of Odun (portrayed by Femi Branch), a wealthy yet isolated farmer in 1980s Ibadan. The story unfolds as Odun finds solace in Funmi (played by Gbubemi Ejeye), a young woman from a neighboring village. However, their happiness takes a dark turn when Femi and Funmi conspire to eliminate Odun, leading to haunting consequences.

"Farmer's Bride" marks FilmOne's second original production after the success of 'Adire,' directed by Adeoluwa Owu. While FilmOne is known for distribution and co-productions, 'Adire' signaled the launch of FilmOne Studios, the company's in-house production arm dedicated to innovative content.

With direction by Tijani and Opukeme, known for their work on 'Jagun Jagun' and 'Adire,' respectively, the film also stars Gbubemi Ejeye and Efe Irele, adding depth to the cinematic landscape with its focus on historical and cultural narratives.

Having recently completed production in Ibadan, "Farmer's Bride" promises to captivate audiences with its talented ensemble cast, including Tobi Bakre, Gbubemi Ejeye, Efe Irele, Femi Branch, Mercy Aigbe, and Wunmi Toriola, and is set to make waves in cinemas later this year.
