Simi fumes as She Embroiled In Exchange With fans On Social Media [video & Picture]

Nigerian songstress Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi, has expressed her frustration with fans who have been urging her to change her music style.

The 'Duduke' singer recently shared a clip of herself performing one of her new songs on a streaming platform, prompting a fan to comment and suggest that she "switch up" her sound.

The fan, identified as @Zeebaby_X, wrote, "Girlll switch it up a bit… change your sound. Your hubby changes his sound and it’s amazing to see. Do the same you’re too good to be doing basic shit."

This comment sparked a debate among other fans, with some agreeing with @Zeebaby_X's sentiment.

Simi, however, was quick to respond, expressing her frustration with the conversation. She challenged the fan to name ten of her songs and dissect them to point out which ones sound the same. She also asked for suggestions on how she could improve her music, whether it be changing genres, using more lamba, or altering her voice.

In another post, Simi urged those who do not enjoy her music to listen to other artists, pointing out that British superstar Adele has been successful despite sticking to a similar style of music.

She wrote, “Omo because I’m doing girl next door, some of you think maybe I’m ok like that. If you don’t like my song, please go and listen to your faves. I’m begging. If it’s the features you want to allow yourself acknowledge my talent, hear that one and be going.

“Na the same ballad Adele dey sing all these days, her people no disturb am. E fi mi sile. If you don’t like what I’m selling, go and listen to the one you like. Unless you don’t have data. And if you don’t have, owo e lo wa ku si.”

Simi's response highlights the pressure artists often face to evolve their sound while staying true to themselves, and her willingness to engage with fans shows her commitment to her craft.
