Nollywood film producer Kunle Afolayan has provided more details about his recently released movie series, "Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre," which premiered on Friday, March 1st.

"Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre" is a six-part series and a sequel to the award-winning 2022 movie "Anikulapo." The series features a star-studded cast including Kunle Remi, Lateef Adedimeji, Uzee Usman, Eyiyemi Afolayan, Bimbo Ademoye, Sisi Quadri, Taiwo Hassan Ogogo, Owobo Ogunde, Gabriel Afolayan, among others.

Known for his portrayal of Yoruba cultures in his movies, Kunle Afolayan expressed his intention to promote Africa through "Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre," aiming to represent the race and its people.

During an exclusive interview with Bella Naija, the filmmaker hinted that the fantasy drama might not conclude after the first season, suggesting that the story could expand beyond the initial series. He even suggested that the film could potentially surpass the popularity of the American epic series "Game of Thrones," indicating the scale and ambition of his project.

Kunle said, “What we just did is the beginning of the story…. I’m capitalizing and relying on the authentic and the original story and that we have not even scratched the surface”.

“I did it because of who we are as Africans as Nigerian as Yoruba as human being. At some point, people will speak English in the series”.

“At some point, we are going to the colonialists. It’s going to be beyond me, It’s going to outlive me”.
