Grammy-winning singer Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has issued an apology to Nigerian blogs after calling out Western blogs for spreading misinformation about his age.
The controversy arose when some Western blogs shared old photos of Burna Boy, casting doubt on his claim of being 32 years old and suggesting that he is older than he states.
In response, Burna Boy took to his Instagram account to clarify that the photos in question were old. He expressed regret over the situation and acknowledged that he owes Nigerian blogs an apology, especially since he believes that the Western blogs' actions were more egregious.
He wrote, “To all you weirdos who depend on @theshaderoom @theshadeborough And other weirdo blogs for your daily news. I shaved my beard in 2021 not now. But it’s good to know that for all the history I’ve been making and records I’ve been setting and breaking, You parasites only care about who might have f*ck, who I’m f*cking, and stupid shit like ‘Burna boy shaved his beard’.“I gotta apologise to Nigerian blogs now cuz I thought their stupidity was unique, I didn’t know they learned all they know from the West.”
Earlier, Burna Boy had issued a warning to Nigerian blogs, threatening legal action if they persisted in publishing content about him. This warning came after his unsuccessful attempt to negotiate a deal with the blogs to refrain from discussing matters concerning him in exchange for compensation.
