After the AFCON 2023 Finals, Alex Iwobi's name has been trending online which was said to have been started by blogger Tunde Ednut. Tunde Ednut had put up a post (the post has been deleted) asking people what they think about Iwobi's performance.
See the deleted post below:
TUNDE EDNUT THE IDIOT. He started the whole cyber bullying on Alex Iwobi. I don’t know why people rate the mofo, the ass licker. pic.twitter.com/HpI6V2KXgi

However, people took it to the extreme venting their anger on him for the loss to Cote d'Ivoire. A user even posted Iwobi's page calling him out for posting different pictures asking if he was a footballer or a model. Reacting to the post, Iwobi deleted all his pictures remaining only one.

There has been anger over the issue by Netizens, while some defended Iwobi others were against him. Those who defended Iwobi took to X to call out Tunde Ednut accusing him of cyberbullying Iwobi.
However, Ahmed Musa former captain of the Super Eagles took to his X page to appeal to Nigerians to leave Iwobi alone. He said the issue of cyberbullying against him is not only a violation of decency but a grievous crime. He called Nigerians not to target one person as the cause of losing the game, nothing that he knows how tough losing a game could mean.
Musa wrote:
"Dear fans, I want to please urge you to halt the cyber-bullying directed towards Alex Iwobi. Cyberbullying is not just a violation of decency but also a serious crime. It's hypocritical to claim that football unites us while engaging in such behavior.
"Losing a game is undoubtedly tough, but targeting a single player for the team's shortcomings is unfair and unjust. We win as a team, and we lose as a team. Alex gave his all on the field, just like every member of our squad.
"Instead of spreading negativity, let's show genuine love and support to our players. They need our encouragement now more than ever. Let's uplift each other and stand united, both in victory and defeat. 👏🦅🇳🇬 THANKS"
