Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham revealed on Tuesday that the piracy of her movie "Malaika" led to her experiencing panic attacks and hospitalization on multiple occasions.
She spoke to reporters in Lagos as the police announced the arrest of five suspects in connection to the pirated movie, which reportedly had a production cost of N500 million.

Abraham, who has taken up the fight against piracy, commended the police, particularly AIG IG Idowu Owohunwa, for taking action by apprehending the suspects.
The Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos, confirmed the arrest of five suspects, including two women, for alleged involvement in conspiracy, intellectual property infringement, piracy, and cyber-related crimes related to the unlawful distribution of "Malaika."

According to the FCID spokesperson, ASP Aminat Mayegun, a criminal complaint was lodged by Abraham and Seun Olayemi, co-producers of "Malaika." They alleged that the movie was criminally pirated and made available on a website and streaming platforms without authorization.
The complainants claimed that the suspects infringed on their intellectual property rights, denying them profits while unlawfully profiting from the movie.

The FCID initiated a joint investigation involving the Anti-Fraud and Cybercrime Sections, deploying specialized intelligence and cybercrime assets to address the issue.
The arrest of the suspects followed coordinated actions, with AIG Idowu Owohunwa expressing commitment to collaborating with the movie industry and the Nigerian Copyright Commission to eliminate criminal activities in the space.
