After a hiatus of 23 years, the iconic Nigerian action franchise, "Issakaba," is set to make a triumphant return with a sequel.

Lead actor Sam Dede, who portrayed the renowned protagonist Ebube, is confirmed to reprise his role. The original creator of the movie, Lancelot Imasuen, is also back in the director's chair for the much-anticipated project.

"Issakaba," an anagram for Bakassi, gained widespread acclaim in 1999, and now, over two decades later, fans can look forward to the continuation of the gripping narrative.

Sam Dede, who took a career break to focus on lecturing theatre arts at the University of Port Harcourt, returns to the screen to revive his iconic character.

The original movie, produced by the late filmmaker Chukwuka Emelionwu, comprised five parts and was a household favorite in the early 2000s.

Inspired by true-life events, "Issakaba" depicted the Bakassi Boys, a community vigilante group combating crimes like armed robbery and murder, striking fear into the hearts of wrongdoers.

The plot centered around the Issakaba Boys, led by Ebube, who fought against armed robbers possessing mystical powers in their criminal activities.

The movie was known for its action-packed sequences, horror elements, and dramatic storytelling. Notable actors such as Chiwetalu Agu, Pete Eneh, Amaechi Muonagor, Susan Obi, and others were part of the original cast.

The reboot of "Issakaba" welcomes new talent to the cast, including Chidi Mokeme, Nosa Rex, and Unusual Phyna, who will contribute to the revival of this classic franchise.

The announcement of the sequel was made by Sam Dede on Instagram, generating excitement among fans eager to witness the continuation of the captivating story.

As Lancelot Imasuen returns to direct the project, expectations are high for the sequel to deliver the same intensity, action, and cultural significance that made "Issakaba" a revered classic in the Nigerian film industry.

Dede shared a video on his Instagram account and wrote, “Dede, who is back as the lead character, shared some words about the production. “ISSAKABA!!! The Myth returns. A river does not flow through a forest without bringing down trees. Men with evil minds lurk in the dark. But Justice is Mine.”
