Netflix has generated immense excitement with the release of a three-minute trailer and the official release date (i.e. March 1st, 2024) for the highly anticipated series, "Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre," created by renowned Nollywood filmmaker Kunle Afolayan.

Following the success of the original Netflix film "Anikulapo," which topped global charts and received multiple awards, this spinoff promises to captivate audiences with its intriguing storyline.

Kunle Afolayan, a prominent figure in the Nigerian film industry, recently shared the official poster for the series, building anticipation among fans.

During a visit to Channels TV, he expressed his excitement about the project, underscoring the significance of the series in expanding the narrative of the "Anikulapo" universe.

The series features a stellar cast, including returning members Kunle Remi, Bimbo Ademoye, Sola Sobowale, Ogogo Taiwo Hassan, and Eyiyemi Afolayan. New faces joining the ensemble include Lateef Adedimeji, Uzee Usman, Gabriel Afolayan, and Owo Ogunde. With a mix of seasoned actors and emerging talents, "Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre" promises a compelling viewing experience.

The storyline revolves around Saro, a traditional textile weaver who arrives in Oyo as a stranger. His love affair with Queen Arolake, trapped in an unhappy marriage to the king, leads to their escape.

Saro's life takes a mystical turn after being saved by a mysterious bird, propelling him to prominence. However, betrayal threatens their love and sets the stage for a captivating narrative.

The series boasts a comprehensive team of over 600 cast and crew members, featuring industry veterans such as Adebayo Salami, Layi Wasabi, Moji Afolayan, Aisha Lawal, Ronke Oshodi, Jide Kosoko, Adeniyi Johnson, and Funky Mallam.

Created by KAP Motion Pictures in collaboration with Golden Effects Pictures, "Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre" completed principal photography in July 2023 and is set to premiere later this year.

As fans eagerly await the release, the series is poised to add another dimension to the success of the "Anikulapo" franchise on the Netflix platform. The intricate storytelling, combined with a stellar cast and crew, sets the stage for a memorable viewing experience.
