Police report clarifies that an ammunition shell, not a bullet, struck Nollywood actor Azeez Ijaduade in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has clarified that an ammunition shell, not a bullet, hit popular Nigerian actor and movie director, Azeez Ololade Ijaduade, in the neck.

The news of the alleged shooting circulated on social media when a colleague of the victim, Abiodun Adebanjo, posted the incident on Instagram.

The post read, “Please, we need help in Iperu. My director, Azeez Ijaduade, @kingzeez1, was shot by a Nigeria Police personnel.

“He is presently at Babcock University Teaching Hospital. Anybody with the contacts of the Police IG or Commissioner should reach out.”

The police in the state have faced intense criticism over alleged unprofessionalism in the handling of the incident.

In response, the spokesperson of the state command, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident through a statement, clarifying that a bullet shell hit the actor in the neck.

“During the Bramaj Company end-of-year party in a hotel, a mobile policeman attached to the Chinese expatriate expended a shot into the air, and unfortunately, the ammunition shell hit one Azeez Ijaduade “m “ an actor, on the neck,” Odutola said.

Our source could not independently verify the current condition of the actor, but the police claimed that he is in stable condition.

“He was rushed to hospital in Ilishan and he is in a very stable condition,” she said.

Odutola, however, added that the officer involved had been arrested, and an investigation has been initiated into the incident.
