The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has disclosed that veteran Nollywood actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has undergone another leg amputation and is currently facing challenges in communication.
The AGN National President, Dr Emeka Rollas, shared this information, expressing concern for Mr Ibu's health.
Dr Rollas also mentioned the deteriorating health of another veteran actor, Amaechi Muonagor, who has been hospitalized at the Nnamdi Azikwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi for over two months. Muonagor's condition has reportedly left him in a frail state.
The AGN is actively monitoring both cases and has called for prayers and support for Mr Ibu and Amaechi Muonagor during these challenging times.
Speaking with Vanguard, the AGN president gave an update, “We are resigning to fate concerning the two actors. As I speak with you, Mr Ibu hardly talks again and he has undergone another leg amputation.”
“You will shed tears if you see Amaechi Muonagor now, his legs are completely paralyzed. I’m calling on all fans and well wishers of the actor to join hands with other philanthropic Nigerians to support him in this dire time,” Rollas said.
Dr Emeka Rollas, the AGN National President, revealed that he has approved a sum of N250,000 to be sent to Mr Ibu's account from the AGN Trust Fund.
However, he acknowledged that this amount may not be sufficient given the actor's health challenges. Dr Rollas encouraged young actors to enroll in the AGN Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) and Insurance programs, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives for the well-being of industry members.
