Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has offered insight into why he perceives himself as "hated" in the music industry. According to him, the disdain comes from those he considers his "inferiors" as he believes he has no "superiors" in the industry.
Burna Boy shared this perspective on his X handle, stating, "Hated by my inferiors for having no superiors," accompanied by a photo of himself. The artist has been vocal about feeling disliked by Nigerians in the past.
In a track titled 'Thank You' from his recent album, 'I Told Them,' Burna Boy hinted at not feeling adequately appreciated by his fellow countrymen despite consistently making the nation proud.
He lamented that instead of acknowledging his significant musical contributions to the country, rumors were circulating about his family background, including false claims that his mother was a dancer for the late Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Kuti.
Additionally, he addressed baseless speculations about his personal life, such as insinuations about his reproductive health. Burna Boy's comments shed light on the challenges and criticisms he perceives within the Nigerian music scene.
