Renowned Nigerian hip-hop artist and actor, Remilekun Abdulkalid Safaru, widely known as Reminisce, has shed light on the reasons behind his music hiatus. He disclosed during a recent episode of the Zero Conditions podcast that he took a step back from the music scene to prioritize his family.
Reminisce, famous for tracks like "Local Rappers," acknowledged that his dedication to his craft had consumed so much of his time and attention that he hardly noticed the changes in his home life or spent quality time with his children, despite sharing the same living space. His recent comeback with the album "ATSG, Vol. 1" marked his return to the music scene after a seven-year break, allowing him to rekindle his passion while also focusing on his family.
He said, “There were times I don’t see my kids for 4 days and we live together. When I get back, they’re in school…
“One of the reasons I actually did take a step back. Let me tell you this story. Some years back, my wife changed the entire set up of our house. It was around that period where I was dropping albums every year and touring. My house painting was changed for almost two years and I didn’t notice. That was when I realised that I need to take a step back and be will my family. Family over everything.”
