Nigerian hip-hop artiste, Owoh Chimaobi Chrismathner, better known as Zoro Swagbag, recently shared a significant aspect of his journey to stardom.
In the latest episode of the Zero Conditions podcast, Zoro revealed that the renowned rapper Phyno played a crucial role in his early career.
Before gaining recognition for his hit song 'Ogene,' Zoro disclosed that he used to sleep on the floor in one of the empty rooms at the residence of Phyno, who is also the owner of Penthauze Record label.
This revelation sheds light on the camaraderie and support that exists within the Nigerian music industry, emphasizing the mentorship and assistance provided by established artists to upcoming talents.

Zoro said, “When my song ‘Ogene’ dropped, I was still in Phyno’s house. I was sleeping in an empty room that didn’t had a bed. I just had my shirt that I tie my dirty clothes on and use it as pillow and sleep on the floor.
“I loaned money to fund the video of ‘Ogene’. Flavour also supported me.”
In 2016, he departed from Phyno's residence following an incident where someone stole money belonging to the Penthauze boss.
