Controversial social media commentator Daniel Regha has asserted that Asake holds a more prominent status as an artist compared to Rema.
According to the outspoken critic, Asake surpasses Rema in terms of lyrical prowess, contending that Rema's greater visibility is attributed to the influence of his record label boss, Don Jazzy.
Regha went on to assert that a significant portion of Rema's songs consists of "recycled lyrics," while emphasizing that his perspective is solely an opinion and not intended as a form of criticism.
Regha wrote, “Asake is a bigger artiste than Rema, but Rema gets better PR thanks to Don Jazzy’s influence & that of Mavin Records. Lyrically speaking Asake has more meaningful songs; Rema 99% of the time recycles lyrics. The only thing they have in common is that both are still upcomers, that’s all. No shades.”
Daniel Regha's critique coincides with Rema's notable achievement of selling out the 20,000-capacity London's O2 Arena.
This accomplishment places Rema in the elite company of African artists such as Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, and Asake, who have all successfully sold out the renowned music arena, known as one of the world's busiest.
Despite this significant milestone, Regha's commentary suggests a divergence in his assessment of Rema's artistic merit compared to Asake's.
