Dotun, a popular on-air personality, has faced a significant legal development as his estranged wife, Taiwo Oyebanjo, has been charged with contempt for her refusal to grant him access to their children. This refusal could result in a potential jail term.
In a high court located in Dukpa, Abuja, Taiwo Oyebanjo, Dotun's ex-wife, was found guilty of breaching the court's decision regarding joint custody of their children. It's worth noting that the court had previously granted shared custody of the children in response to Dotun's request in April 2022, a request that both parties initially agreed to.
However, despite the court's ruling, Taiwo Oyebanjo has not allowed Dotun Kayode access to their children since December 2022, without providing a reason for her actions. This prompted Dotun to take legal action, resulting in a heated and public social media feud between the two.
The court determined that Taiwo Oyebanjo's denial of access to and custody of the children in December 2022 violated the court's order and consequently found her guilty of contempt. The court has also ordered Taiwo Oyebanjo to pay a fine of N200,000 within 30 days, with the possibility of facing imprisonment if the fine remains unpaid.
There were reports of some drama when Taiwo Oyebanjo's legal representatives attempted to withdraw their representation following the court's decision. Nevertheless, the matter was rescheduled for trial on December 11th.
