Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court in Lagos, on October 5, 2023, issued a production warrant for Nigerian singer Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley. This development occurred as Naira Marley faces legal proceedings initiated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on 11 counts related to conspiracy and credit card fraud.

During the court session, Naira Marley's defense counsel, Olalekan Ojo, SAN, informed the court that the singer was unable to attend due to his detention by the police for questioning in connection with the murder of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, also known as Mohbad. Consequently, Ojo requested an adjournment of the trial.

In response, the prosecution counsel, Bilkisu Buhari, requested the court to issue a production warrant to ensure Naira Marley's presence at the next adjourned date.

Justice Oweibo granted the prosecution's request, issuing the production warrant and adjourning the trial to October 30, 2023, for its continuation. This legal battle unfolds amid increased scrutiny and public attention on the musician's legal issues.
