Grammy-winning singer Temilade Openiyi, renowned as Tems, has revealed her favorite African artists of the moment are her compatriot Asake and the emerging South African singer Tyla.
She made this statement during her appearance on the red carpet at the Time100 Next Gala in New York.
The interviewer asked: “Who are your favourite African artists right now?”
Tems responded: “My favourite African artists right now are Asake and Tyla.”
Tems responded: “My favourite African artists right now are Asake and Tyla.”
Tems known for her hit "Essence," was honored as a next-gen voice at the 2023 Time100 Next event.
It's worth noting that she wasn't the sole Nigerian to be featured on the 2023 Time100 Next list. Dr. Toyin Ajayi, the CEO of health start-up Cityblock Health, and tech founder Wemimo Abbey, together with co-founder Samir Goel for their startup Esusu, also earned a spot on the list.
