Former security guards Happie Boys remanded in prison in Cyprus

Former Nigerian security guards, popularly known as the Happie Boys, have been remanded in prison in Cyprus. They were reportedly arraigned for an undisclosed offense and detained in an underground prison by Cypriot authorities.

This information was shared by well-known Twitter influencer Pamilerin Adegoke on October 10, 2023, via his verified X (formerly known as Twitter) page. He wrote: "Happie Boys Remanded in Prison in Cyprus. Popular internet sensation and former security guards, Happie Boys, have been remanded in a prison in Cyprus. They were said to have been arraigned for an unknown offense and remanded in an underground prison by the authorities in Cyprus."

The Happie Boys gained notoriety after they were dismissed from their jobs as security guards for dancing on duty at a fast-food establishment in Nigeria. Following their dismissal, they were awarded educational scholarships to study in Cyprus by Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, the founder of Omega Power Ministries (OPM).

However, their newfound fortune took a turn for the worse when a video appeared online in which the two boys accused the pastor of abandoning them in Cyprus. Pastor Chinyere explained that he had asked them to return to Nigeria to continue their studies due to fluctuations in Nigeria's exchange rates caused by economic policies.

The Happie Boys later released an audio recording of Pastor Chinyere placing a curse on them for publicly criticizing him on the internet, despite his previous kindness. The pastor subsequently revoked the curse and provided them with return flight tickets to Nigeria. Simultaneously, a Nigerian doctor based in the United States, Dr. Ochu Daniel, promised to connect them with the Vice President of Cyprus for a better life. The Happie Boys uploaded another video rejecting Apostle Chinyere's offer to return to Nigeria.
