The Chief District Court of the Federal Capital Territory at Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, has issued a restraining order against the on-air-personality, Kayode Oladotun, popularly known as Do2dtun. This injunction prevents him from posting any defamatory content against the singer Oladapo Oyebanjo, also known as D’banj, on social media or any other platform.
The presiding Judge, His Honour, Emmanuel Iyanna, granted this injunction on October 18, 2023, under the case with Motion No: MN/218/2023.
D’banj, represented by one of his lawyers, Toheeb Lawal from the Abuja-based law firm, Law Corridor, had submitted an application to the court requesting the restraining order. The application sought to prevent Do2dtun from making malicious and defamatory posts against him on social media.
The court, in approving the application, issued an order that prevents the defendant (Do2dtun) from making any further malicious, intimidating, or defamatory posts directed at the complainant (D’banj) on any social media platform (e.g., Instagram) or news media. This order will remain in effect pending the hearing and determination of the main case.
Furthermore, the court directed the Deputy Inspector of Police, Force Intelligence Bureau, to conduct an investigation into a criminal complaint filed by D’banj against Do2dtun within two weeks and report back to the court.
In recent weeks, Do2dtun had been using social media to make various allegations against D’banj. Notably, Do2dtun, who was previously married to D'banj's sister, Taiwo, since 2013, has been embroiled in a divorce proceeding initiated by Taiwo. She cited alleged "unending reckless emotional abuse, forced abortion, and vicious domestic violence" as reasons for the divorce, all of which had a detrimental impact on her health and well-being.
One of the recent allegations made by Do2dtun claimed that he was denied access to see his daughter, which Taiwo disputes, asserting that he does have access to their children. Additionally, she recounted her past experiences within the marriage, including domestic violence and emotional abuse, and recounted an incident involving a forced abortion of a five-month pregnancy at the hands of Do2dtun.
