Prominent Nigerian medical practitioner and Twitter personality, Aproko Doctor, has offered potential explanations for the discovery of fresh blood within the burial site of the late singer, Mohbad, following the exhumation that took place on September 21st.
Several Nigerians who visited the grave after his body was exhumed reported finding fresh blood inside it. They recorded videos and shared them online, expressing wonder at the possibility of fresh blood being present in a grave eight days after burial.
Aproko Doctor provided a plausible reason why fresh blood might be discovered inside a grave. He explained that blood has a red color due to a compound called hemoglobin, which carries oxygen through the body. When blood is exposed to air, the cells containing hemoglobin die, causing the blood to change color to a darker hue. This color change occurs because the hemoglobin is converted into another compound called methemoglobin.
In the normal course of events, when people die, all the blood remains in their bodies but doesn't circulate due to the cessation of bodily functions. However, during embalming procedures, blood is often replaced with another fluid. Aproko Doctor raised the question of whether Mohbad's body had been embalmed.
Even with embalming, it's challenging to remove all the blood, as some typically remains. The explanation for the fresh appearance of the blood within the grave, Aproko Doctor suggested, could be the lack of sufficient air exposure in the closed compartment underground, preventing the hemoglobin from changing color.
Regarding the unusually high quantity of blood, Aproko Doctor acknowledged that without access to the body, it's challenging to ascertain the specific circumstances. He noted that Mohbad's neck was positioned unnaturally in the coffin, which could have caused damage to blood vessels and led to blood leakage.
Aproko Doctor emphasized that the information provided was speculative, as individuals examining the body physically would have more knowledge and a clearer understanding of the situation.
