Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, keeps doing himself, Nigeria, Afrobeats and Africa proud. Within the same week he broke two records. First he became the first African with UK number 1 album. As if that was not enough, just today, he became
the first artist to amass one billion streams on the digital music streaming platform, Boomplay.

He reached this milestone upon the launch of his seventh studio album, titled "I Told Them."

A review of his Boomplay account by our source revealed that the artist has accumulated more than a billion streams on the platform.

Boomplay, established in 2015, stands as the largest digital music streaming platform in Africa.

Additionally, Burna Boy holds the distinction of being the platform's most widely followed artist, boasting over 600,000 followers.

Renowned for his hit song "African Giant," Burna Boy has made history as the first Nigerian artist to surpass 1 billion career streams across various music platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, Audiomack, and Boomplay.

In other news, Burna Boy made history last Friday by becoming the first African artist to achieve a UK Number 1 album with "I Told Them."

The Official Charts Company officially confirmed that Burna Boy's seventh studio album, "I Told Them," debuted at the top spot on the UK albums chart.

The British record chart company honored the 'African Giant' with a plaque to commemorate this achievement.

In a tweet, the company stated, "He told them! @burnaboy makes UK chart HISTORY today as he claims his first Number 1 album."

An elated Burna Boy quoted the tweet with the caption, "Let's Have It! #ITOLDTHEM #ITOLDTHEMNUMBER1."

Previously, the Port Harcourt-born singer's last two albums, "Twice As Tall" and "Love Damini," reached Number 2 on the UK albums chart before his latest project finally propelled him to the chart's summit.
