Samson Erinfolabi Balogun, a prominent Lagos socialite and show promoter known as Sam Larry, has finally spoken out amidst accusations linking him to the untimely death of singer Mohbad. The 27-year-old artist's passing on Tuesday stirred controversy.
Sam Larry, an associate of Naira Marley, the owner of Marlian Music, which previously signed Mohbad, found himself under intense scrutiny on the internet following the circulation of a video showing him and his associates disrupting Mohbad's video shoot with Zlatan Ibile on social media.
Allegations had also surfaced, claiming that the music promoter and his associates subjected Mohbad to ongoing harassment and influenced event promoters to deny him opportunities, resulting in an increasingly challenging life after his departure from Marlian Record.
Three months prior to his passing, the late singer had submitted a petition to the Nigeria Police, asserting that his life was being threatened by Sam Larry and Naira Marley.
Addressing these allegations in a widely circulated video on social media, Larry firmly denied any involvement in Mohbad's death, emphasizing that he considered the late artist his beloved brother.
“Mohbad is my brother. When he was signed to Marlian Records, he knew I loved him so much. Even his wife and everyone else know that I love Mohbad.
“Everywhere I go, whether it is Kenya or Dubai, I will call him so that we can go together. I will pay Marlian Records for a show, and we will go together.
“The videos going viral happened last year when I was not in the country. So, I can’t kill Mohbad, God sees my heart, and I love him so much. I don’t know anything about his death.”
