Bimbo Ademoye, Falz, Daddy Freeze, and others presented with Social Media Awards.

 


An award recognizing individuals who effectively utilized social media to address and raise awareness about various crises and issues in Nigeria has been awarded to Falz the bad guy, known for his socially conscious music and activism. He was honored for his impactful use of social media during times of crisis.


Actress Bimbo Ademoye was also recognized for her high level of engagement with her fans and followers on social media, while Stan Nze was acknowledged for his ability to captivate and engage his audience as an actor.


The Nigerian Social Media Awards, held in Lagos, is aimed to celebrate and appreciate individuals who have made significant contributions to the social media landscape in Nigeria. The event highlighted the power of social media as a tool for communication, activism, and engagement in the country.


Different categories of awards recognizing accomplishments in audience engagement, content creation, influencer categories, and brand engagement on social media were also given out.


Prominent among the winners were, Simply Tacha, who was honoured with the best social media influencer of the year, and Daddy Freeze, who won the most engaging on-air personality on social media.


Arise Television famous journalist, Rufai Oseni also emerged as the most engaging journalist on social media, and Morayo Afolabi-Brown was awarded the most engaging TV host online while Arise News was named the most engaging TV station on social media.


Other winners included:


- The best content creator of the year award went to Mark Angel Comedy, a popular Nigerian comedy YouTube channel.


- The best brand engagement on social media award was given to Coca-Cola Nigeria for their successful social media campaigns and interactions with their audience.


- The best audience engagement award went to Linda Ikeji, a popular Nigerian blogger, for her ability to connect with her readers and create a sense of community on her blog and social media platforms.


- The best social media campaign award was won by the #EndSARS movement, which used social media to raise awareness and mobilize protests against police brutality in Nigeria.


- The best use of social media for social change award was given to the Stand to End Rape Initiative, an organization that uses social media to raise awareness about sexual violence and provide support to survivors.


- The best use of social media for business award was won by Jumia Nigeria, an e-commerce platform that effectively utilizes social media to promote their products and engage with customers.


Chief Executive Officer of Alternative Adverts Ltd, Emmanuel Nwafor, who was the award organizer, while commending the honorees’ efforts to use social media to stay exceptional, said: 


“We hope that the award will encourage those into nefarious activities on social media to see a reason to use it for good with the hope of being recognised one day.


“The winners announced today are based on the online voting done from July 1 to Aug. 31 after the auditioning and nomination processes.”
