Renowned Nigerian songstress, Sarah Aderibigbe, widely recognized as Ayra Starr, has voiced her reluctance to accept the title of Best Female Artiste of the Year bestowed upon her by the Headies Awards organizers.
The tumultuous turn of events during the 16th Headies Awards, as recalled by our source, unfolded when co-host, the esteemed actress Osas Ighodaro, abruptly declared the ceremony's termination, leaving an astounding 13 categories, including the coveted Best Female Artiste award, unannounced.
In a subsequent move, the organizers took to their social media platforms to reveal the triumphant recipients of these previously undisclosed awards.
Reacting via her X page on Monday, Ayra Starr wrote: “I will never be grateful for winning a category that wasn’t even deemed fit to be announced on stage. Best female artist na beans? We work hard, every single one of us! I’ve seen Tiwa record four hit songs in the same night. Tems breathes and lives for music. We didn’t deserve such nonchalance! Nigeria, you didn’t raise me to settle for less.”
