Should there be another hike in the current price of petrol, which stands at 617 naira which is deemed "unlawful" by the Organised Labour, the group has threatened an all-encompassing, indefinite nationwide strike.

Joe Ajaero, President of the NLC (Nigeria Labour Congress), made this announcement during the African Trade Union Alliance meeting in Abuja on Monday. At the same event, organized labour cautioned against disregarding the union's demands.

As previously reported by our source, oil marketers indicated that the cost of Premium Motor Spirit, commonly referred to as petrol, could surge to between N680/litre and N720/litre in the upcoming weeks, given the fluctuating value of the dollar in the parallel market, ranging between N910 and N950.

Additionally, these oil dealers hinted at their hesitancy to import PMS due to the scarcity of foreign exchange for importing the commodity.

Earlier, the organized labour had temporarily halted a proposed indefinite strike scheduled for August 4, 2023, following discussions with President Bola Tinubu.
