It was celebration galore in Nigeria on Saturday and the early hours of today as Nigeria’s D’Tigress crushed her opponent Senegal by 84-74 to claim a fourth consecutive Afro Women’s Basketball crown in a pulsating showdown final.
The Rena Wakama’s girls led 12 points (43-31) heading into the halftime break.
However, the Senegalese ladies came back smoking in the third quarter out-shooting Nigeria 26-19. With that point, they ate into the Nigerian points, slashing it to five points (62-57).
Unfortunately for Senegal, the D’Tigress had their games on lock down as the dominated and prevailed against them by 84-74 at the end of a thrilling fourth quarter.
The team touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, today via an Ethiopian Airlines flight. Officials from the Federal Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, led by Dr. Simon Ebhojiaye, Director of the Federation, Elites, and Athletes Department (FEAD), warmly welcomed the team.
