As we get ready for the Women's World Cup, the Super Falcons are in top shape for the tournament. They have played friendly matches that went well, and the mentality in the camp is that of success. After putting the boycott rumour behind them, midfielder Toni Payne has declared the team’s readiness to fight for honours at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
This is the 10th World Cup appearance that the nine-time African champions will be featuring in and it happening in far away Australia and New Zealand.
Nigeria’s preparation for the global soccer fiesta had been marred by the war of words between head coach Randy Waldrum and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
However, putting them behind, the Super Falcons have been preparing hard for the competition in Brisbane, Australia. They showed their preparedness when they thrashed the Australian side, Queensland Lions FC 8-1 in a test game on Saturday morning.

Reflecting on the team’s impressive performance, Payne said they are ready to face any opposition at the World Cup.
“We are on the same level as France and Australia, and we are very confident. With the players we have here, we are ready to fight,” Payne told NFF TV.
“We are growing and improving our system every day with every training. Step by step, we are getting ready for our first game against Canada.”
