The chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), AbdulRasheed Bawa, has been suspended indefinitely by President Bola Tinubu due to serious allegations of office abuse.
As a result, Bawa has been instructed to hand over his duties to the Director of Operations at the Commission.
The Director of Operations in the Commission has been instructed to take over the responsibilities of Bawa's office without delay, according to a brief announcement made by Willie Bassey, Director of Information at the SGF office on Wednesday.
Bawa's suspension was prompted by serious accusations of misconduct in his role, as stated in the statement.
“Mr Bawa has been directed to immediately handover the affairs of his office to the Director, Operations in the Commission, who will oversee the affairs of the Office of the Chairman of the Commission pending the conclusion of the investigation,” the statement read.
Prior to his suspension, Abdulrasheed Bawa, the Chairman of the EFCC, held a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the State House earlier today.
