Over the weekend, an unidentified group of gunmen killed a naval rating known only as OS Harrison in the Ajegunle area of Lagos State.
SP. Benjamin Hundeyin, the Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed the incident and stated that no arrests have been made in connection with the murder.
Less than a year after the reported killing of a female officer in the same area, a naval officer has been killed.
The deceased officer was serving at the Lagos Logistics Depot of the Nigerian Navy prior to the incident.
A resident of Ajegunle, who preferred to remain anonymous, shared this information with the press: “We still live in fear. We heard that his colleagues want to avenge his death.”
“The naval officer was walking around Olowojeunjeje area of Ajegunle when he was shot by unknown people. Some people said the killers were cultists.”
The police spokesperson confirmed the incident to reporters and stated that: “Investigation has started but nobody has been arrested yet.”
